A one day interdisciplinary conference to celebrate and debate 20 years of democracy in South Africa, bringing together leading experts on and from South Africa.

The conference is organised into four thematic panels:

  1. Political Economy and Governance
  2. South African Foreign Policy
  3. History and Contemporary Society
  4. Arts and Culture

Coming together to celebrate and debate the last 20 years of democracy, leading experts will discuss how the new South Africa has emerged with all its challenges and complexities since the country’s first democratic elections.

Confirmed speakers:  Shula Marks, Lindiwe Dovey, John Sender, Deborah Johnston, Hein Marais, Wayne Dooling, Colin Coleman, leading SA actress Pamela Nomvete, SA Poet Leeto Thale, amongst others.

Performers will accompany the reception at 5pm in the adjacent room, G3
