CFP: The Experience of Tanzania, deadline 15/03

The objective of the conference is to investigate the progress of the United Republic of Tanzania over the fifty years since the creation of the Union and to consider its prospects for the future in the context of renewed optimism about both economic performance and cooperation between national governments in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The conference will be multi-disciplinary in approach but will focus on the following themes:

  • Tanzanian economic growth and transformation
  • Tanzania in East Africa
  • Development and mineral wealth
  • Tourism and development
  • Industrialisation and urban development
  • Agriculture and land
  • Conflict and development

Interested speakers are invited to submit an abstract of no more than 300 words to by 15 March 2014.  Selected presenters will be notified by early April.  The submission must state the title, author(s) name and affiliation, and the relevant thematic stream. For further information please contact:
